The European adventure begins! Day 1 of „We frame the change” mobility
August 19, 2025, Bucharest – With great enthusiasm and positive emotions, 30 young people from five European countries gathered today at the C.C.S.S. TEI Conference Center in Bucharest to kick off the Erasmus+ mobility „We frame the change”. The first day was dedicated to getting to know each other and laying the foundations for an intensive week of learning and international collaboration.
First international connections
The morning began with an interactive „Find someone who” game that quickly transformed the conference room into a space full of laughter and animated conversations. Participants from Romania, Spain, Lithuania, the Netherlands, and Italy discovered with surprise how many things unite them, despite cultural differences.
Key competences – the foundation of our project
The second part of the day was dedicated to exploring the 8 key Erasmus+ competences, but not in a boring theoretical way, but through concrete examples related to our visual storytelling project objectives.
„We’re not talking about abstract competences, but about real skills that you will develop in the next 7 days and that you will use to create impact in your communities,” the trainers explained.
Competences in action – examples from our project:
🗣️ Communication competence – Writing a powerful description for a photograph that presents a problem from the local community
🌍 Multilingual competence – Adding translations to the final photo exhibition to be understood by visitors from other countries
📱 Digital competence – Editing and publishing a photo story on social media, respecting privacy and copyright
🤝 Social and learning to learn competence – Collaborating in international teams to document a demonstration, then evaluating the results
🏛️ Civic competence – Using photography to highlight local environmental problems and inspire change
🚀 Entrepreneurship competence – Organizing a public photography exhibition to raise awareness about youth participation in democratic life
🎨 Cultural competence – Photographing local cultural traditions to celebrate diversity
Group atmosphere – diversity and unity
What impresses most about this first day is the positive energy and openness with which each participant embraced the intercultural experience. Despite initial language barriers, the group quickly united around the common goal of learning to transform frustrations into concrete actions.

What’s next tomorrow?
Day 2 will be dedicated to exploring in depth the concept of active citizenship. Participants will discuss the difference between passive and active involvement, reflect on previous volunteering experiences, and set realistic goals for future involvement in their communities.
A promising start
The first day of the „We frame the change” mobility exceeded all organizers’ expectations. The human connections created, the enthusiasm of participants, and the clarity of objectives established promise an extraordinary week of learning and personal transformation.
In the next 6 days, these 30 European young people will learn to use visual storytelling as an instrument of social change, document problems of the Bucharest community through the photovoice method, and organize a public exhibition to inspire civic action.
Follow our daily adventure to discover how this unique European experience of learning and transformation develops!
The „We frame the change” project is co-funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ Programme and implemented by the European Art Workshop Cultural Association in partnership with organizations from Spain, Lithuania, the Netherlands, and Italy.
