Leadership in Action at the National Youth Foundation

November 15, 2025 – The sixth day of the Erasmus+ mobility „From Training to Leadership” marked the program’s culminating moment: the public event at the National Youth Foundation, where the 26 international participants put into practice all the competencies developed throughout the week, facilitating interactive activities for over 20 volunteers from the local community.

The event took place between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM at the National Youth Foundation headquarters in the Piața Romană area (General Christian Tell Street 22). Participants from Romania, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Turkey, and Spain arrived well in advance for final preparations, setting up the space and reviewing the last details of the interactive workshop designed the previous day.

The Interactive Workshop

The activity brought together volunteers from DGASPC Sector 6 and Școala de Valori – a diverse group consisting of teenagers and seniors, offering mobility participants the authentic experience of working with intergenerational groups. Trainers Nicoleta and Andreea supervised the process, allowing participants to fully take on the role of facilitators.

The workshop explored the concepts of „host leadership” and „guest leadership” through interactive games, practical exercises, and facilitated discussions. Participants addressed themes such as effective communication, active listening, emotional intelligence, and group dynamics – all elements studied in previous days of the mobility.

The non-formal methodology used allowed community volunteers to directly experience how leadership can be learned through active participation, reflection, and interaction. The group’s diversity – both in terms of age and the facilitators’ cultural backgrounds – created a rich and dynamic learning environment.

Practical Application and Feedback

For some mobility participants, the event represented the first real opportunity to test their facilitation competencies in a public context, in front of a group of people they had not known before. This experience provided valuable feedback about acquired skills and areas requiring further development.

Felix, the project coordinator, remarked that the event concretely demonstrated the multiplier effect of the Erasmus+ program: the 26 people trained this week became, in turn, facilitators for another 20 community members, extending the program’s impact beyond direct participants.

Impact on the Local Community

The event offered local volunteers access to European non-formal education methods and international perspectives on leadership in youth work. The interaction with facilitators from five different countries created opportunities for intercultural exchange and mutual learning.

The sixth day of the „From Training to Leadership” mobility transformed theory into practice and individual competencies into community impact. Participants demonstrated that authentic leadership manifests in the ability to facilitate the development of others, thus validating the main objectives of the training program. The mobility continues tomorrow with the final day dedicated to evaluation, final reflection, and the closing ceremony.

The „From Training to Leadership” project is funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ program and takes place between November 10-16, 2025, in Bucharest.
