Active Listening, Values, and the Power of Perseverance
Monday, 16 March, brought a deeper and more structured programme.
If the first day was about getting to know each other and self-exploration, day two went straight to the heart of the themes that Finding My Future places at its core.
The morning opened with a session on active listening — one of the fundamental competencies of any youth worker and often one of the hardest to put into practice genuinely.
The discussion continued with an exploration of the 8 key values of young people and an essential visual exercise: the wheel of values and life, a reflection tool that helps young people see where they are and where they want to go.
The afternoon session raised a challenging question: How do you support someone starting from who they are, not from who you are? The answer came through an introduction to Kolb’s model and the 4 learning styles — a theoretical framework with immediate practical application in the day-to-day work of youth workers.
The second part of the afternoon focused on the core principles of an effective CV, with emphasis on the distinction between soft and hard skills — and on how each young person can identify and make the most of them.
The day closed with house group sessions and the theme of Grit: the power of passion and perseverance — a subject that resonated strongly with the participants’ own experiences and sparked some of the liveliest discussions of the day.

Finding My Future is funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, under action KA210-YOU — Small-scale partnerships in youth.
